Dear Colleague,
I am writing to announce that a key conference on Researcher Careers and Mobility will be held in Dublin on 14th and 15th May 2013 under the auspices of the Irish Presidency. This will be an opportunity to gauge progress in achieving the objectives of the European Research Area with respect to researchers.
The event, under the Irish Presidency, is a close collaboration between the Irish Universities Association (IUA), the Department of Jobs Enterprise & Innovation (DJEI) and the European Commission. The objective is to advance the objectives of the Innovation Union and the European Research Area, focusing on the well-recognised barriers to mobility and career development of researchers. The topics that will be discussed include:
1) Open Recruitment as a pathway to Excellence
2) Career Development and Training for Researchers at all stages of their careers
3) Mobility of People and Money
4) Social security and pensions – addressing the barriers for researchers
The conference will be attractive to a wide range of stakeholders from researchers to policy makers. Speakers will include international experts on the various themes crossing the divide between the public and private sector. We look forward to the active participation of delegates in supporting the drive for a Europe that is truly a single market for researchers.
The conference will begin at lunchtime on 14 May and conclude early afternoon on 15 May. There will be no registration fee for this conference. We will be developing a website for this Presidency conference and will keep you updated on developments.
It will be held in central Dublin at the historical location of Dublin Castle the site of the city’s foundation over 1000 years ago. I look forward to welcoming you to Dublin for this important conference as part of the achieving the European Research Area.
