The European Forum for Science and Industry was created by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission to exchange views on the needs of industry concerning science and innovation. This Forum brings together on a regular and structured basis public institutions, private companies and adequate networks to discuss themes of key importance for European competitiveness. Relevant economic sectors concerned by this initiative are: Clean transport, Energy, Environment and climate change, Water, Eco-Industry and biotechnologies, ICT, Health, Nanotechnologies, Food security, Danube strategy, Behavioural and humanity social sciences. In the framework of this Forum, the JRC regularly organises conferences, round table discussions, and bilateral meetings and also issues a biweekly newsletter.

Member organisations will then receive the newsletter about the European Forum for Science and Industry which includes information on JRC activities related to industry needs, updates on innovative examples from science and industry as well as the announcement of upcoming events from both JRC and partners. Member organisations are also encouraged to actively contribute to this publication by presenting interesting studies, innovative idea or event.
Upcoming events organised in the frame of the European Forum for Science and Industry are announced in the newsletter. Two upcoming events foreseen: a Conference on “Scientific support to energy security in the Baltic Sea Region” due to take place on 4 July 2013 in Vilnius (Lithuania) and a Conference on “Scientific support to capacity markets and the adequate integration of variable renewable energy” due to take place on 22 July 2013 in Brussels (Belgium).
